A series of background papers that further understanding and analysis within both policy and academic communities of the roles, strategies, opportunities, practical constraints, and supportive frameworks related to Diaspora participation in peace building and development.


A map of the broad peace building potentials of different Diaspora and the challenges and opportunities to catalyzing and harnessing these potentials both in the country of residence and country of origin.

Identification of ways to integrate Diaspora potential in international development assistance programs and policies.

Identification of a range of targeted capacity building projects for specific Diaspora groups engaged, or planning to be engaged, in particular peace building or development roles.

Identification of modules related to Diaspora and peace building that may be integrated into UPEACE’s graduate curricula or offered as distinct short courses.

A prototype for a multimedia toolkit that may be distributed to key institutions to animate further scholarly discussions on the roles of Diaspora in peace building and development and to share what's learnt from the forum with concerned practitioners.
